Tyrk kan tæmmes

Af Bent Holm

This book is in Danish.

Tyrk kan tæmmes focuses on a figure that arouses both fear and fascination: the Turk as a staged figure. From royal rituality to folkly festivity – and, last but not least, on the theater stage. The book is a series of pinpoints in the Turk's Danish history of fiction. Based on Luther who read a diabolical conspiracy between the Pope and the Turks from an apocalyptical understanding of history – the end of the world is near! The idea is staged by the coronation of Christian IV, lives on in folklore, is parodied by Holberg, blades out in exoticism in the theater, but blooms up again with Grundtvig.
