Scala – den spektakulære storbyrevy
By Michael Eigtved
This book is in Danish.
Scala Teater on Vesterbrogade in Copenhagen managed in its short life 1920-30 to deliver a string of lavish, fast-paced, modern and popular revues. They were created with a look to Berlin, Paris, London pg New York, where there was showtime on a completely different scale than in Denmark.
With their overflow of energy, spectacular sceneries, strong star performers and secure sense of the language of a new time, music and themes the Scala-revues thus marked a landslide in Danish entertainment. With them the revue became both modern and international, and Copenhagen got a step closer to being a fashionable city.
